Personalized, Evidence-Based Mental Health Care

I am committed to providing treatments that are backed by science and have been shown to improve mental health & wellbeing (learn more about me & my training here).

I specialize in working with individuals experiencing challenges related to:

Emotional Distress

Emotional distress can take many forms: anxiety, depression, irritability, intrusive thoughts, and more. I offer evidence-based treatments to help clients unstick from emotional suffering and build the life they want.

Trauma, PTSD, & Stress

Trauma and stressful events can deeply impact wellbeing. Clients often struggle with painful thoughts and emotions after these events. Together, we can work to process what happened and find a way forward.

Perinatal & Reproductive Health

Infertility, pregnancy, postpartum and the menstrual cycle can seriously impact mental health. I often work with clients navigating challenges and and looking to cultivate wellbeing in these contexts.

My values.

  • I see therapy as a relationship between equals. I aim to help clients connect with their own wisdom and to make choices that honor their goals and values.

  • I believe the therapist and client are a team. We both have strengths that can support the therapeutic process. We will work together to identify those strengths, clarify your goals, and figure out what is needed to move towards them.

  • I deeply value research and its role in informing healthcare. I use methods that are backed by science and stay up to date with the research literature and best practices.

  • Each person brings their own unique values, identities, and life experiences to therapy. I am committed to offering individualized care that is tailored to each client’s needs, goals, and preferences.

  • I care deeply about providing culturally-responsive care. I welcome clients of any race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation, and to be neurodiversity-affirming. I am glad you are here.

  • I value authenticity and see it as a critical part of building trust, connection, and strong relationships. I am committed to being genuine and transparent with clients, and to supporting my clients in showing up authentically as well.

FAQs

What services do you offer?

I offer individual therapy in-person and via telehealth (i.e., virtually) to clients in WA or PSYPACT states.

In-person sessions are only available on Wednesdays.

What concerns do you treat?

I specialize in treating emotional distress, trauma, and reproductive/perinatal-related concerns. Clients I work often experience concerns like:

  • Anxiety, worry, panic attacks

  • Coping with stressful life events

  • Depression

  • Difficulties with emotion regulation

  • Grief and loss

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Perinatal/reproductive mental health

  • Social/relationship functioning

  • Self-esteem & self-worth

  • Sleep

  • Suicidal thoughts

  • Trauma/PTSD

One area of particular expertise is reproductive mental health. This means I have speciality training and experience working with all of the concerns listed above in perinatal contexts–that is, with people who are trying to conceive, pregnant, or postpartum. Given this, I often work with clients who are facing challenges related to:

  • Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)

  • Birth trauma and traumatic medical experiences in pregnancy, postpartum, or ob/gyn care

  • Grief after pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or child loss

  • Stress related to (in)fertility and family planning

  • Adjustment to parenthood and role transitions

  • Hormonal and menstrual concerns, including premenstrual symptoms (PMS), PMDD, and PME

Fit really matters in therapy and I want all clients to find a provider who has the training, experience, and expertise needed to support them. To help you evaluate fit, you can review the About Me page to learn more about my training and experience.

What days are you available?

I work at Root & Bloom on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8:30am - 4:00pm PT.

It’s important that prospective clients know I have limited availability outside of these hours as I also work part-time at the University of Washington and value work/life balance.

Outside of my work hours, I can often be found enjoying nature in the PNW, playing music, practicing yoga, or reading romantasy novels.

What are your fees?

  • Phone Consultation (~15m): Free!

  • Intake Session (~75m): $360

  • Individual Sessions: Standard (50m): $250 or Extended (75m): $320

Do you accept insurance?

I am not in network with any insurance plans. I can, however, provide a superbill for clients who would like to pursue out-of-network reimbursement. I recognize the cost of therapy can be a significant barrier to care. Resources for reduced fee services can be found here.

How often/long will we meet?

My standard session is 50m and typically once weekly. Availability permitting, I may be able to offer and extended session (~75m), if clinically indicated.

As part of the intake, we will discuss your preferences for the length and frequency of sessions. I will also provide my clinical recommendations. If either you or I decide more intensive services are needed than I can offer, I can help you to identify referrals.

An important note.

I am both a clinical psychologist and yoga teacher. It is important to me clients know these are distinct disciplines with different credentials, ethical guidelines, and regulations. As a psychologist, I am attentive to the risks of having multiple relationships. For this reason, it is my policy that I do not work with clients as both a therapist and yoga teacher. I encourage clients to consider which role they would like to work with me in.

What can I expect?

Therapy is a collaborative process. First and foremost, our goal is to get to know each other. I want clients to make an informed decision about whether I am the right fit for them. I also need to assess if I have the right training and experience to support you in your goals. To accomplish this, we will spend our first few sessions in an assessment phase. I will ask you about your background, current concerns, and your goals for therapy, while you get a sense for my style and approach. By the end of the intake process, we will develop a treatment plan and decide whether to work together.

Once we commit to a plan, we will get active in working towards your goals. My therapeutic style has been described as non-judgmental, genuine, and engaging. I use evidence-based methods to help my clients make the changes they want in themselves and their lives. I value staying up to date on research and tailoring current best practices to my client’s individual needs, goals, context, and values. I recognize our work together is typically just an hour of your week and that lasting change often takes time and practice. For this reason, I work with my clients to make changes both in and out of therapy. During sessions, I take an active stance and we work to identify, understand, and change behaviors in real-time. Between sessions, I encourage clients to engage in practice assignments to hone their skills and continue moving towards their goals.

Throughout treatment, we will continue to assess your progress and goals. This allows us to change course, if needed, and decide when our work together is done. My approach is designed to be time-limited. While we may not know exact length of care at the start, my ultimate goal is to help clients learn the skills they need to “become their own therapist.” Practically, this often means meeting weekly at the start of treatment and then decrease the frequency of sessions and/or conclude our work together as clients achieve their goals.

Treatment is individualized, which means its length and methods used vary based on the clients’ needs and preferences. I strive to create a safe and affirming therapeutic environment, and I am committed to providing care that is culturally-responsive, anti-racist, and LGBTQ+ affirming.
