Personalized, Evidence-Based Mental Health Care

Emotional Distress

Emotional distress can take many forms: anxiety, depression, irritability, intrusive thoughts, and more. I offer evidence-based treatments to help clients unstick from emotional suffering and build the life they want.

Trauma, PTSD, & Stress

Trauma and stressful events can deeply impact wellbeing. Clients often struggle with painful thoughts and emotions after these events. Together, we can work to process what happened and find a way forward.

Reproductive Mental Health

Reproductive events–like the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and menopause–can impact mental health. I specialize in working with clients experiencing distress in these contexts.

My values.

  • I see therapy as a relationship between equals. I aim to help clients connect with their own wisdom and to make choices that honor their goals and values.

  • I believe the therapist and client are a team. We both have strengths that can support the therapeutic process. We will work together to identify those strengths, clarify your goals, and figure out what is needed to move towards them.

  • I deeply value research and its role in informing healthcare. I use methods that are backed by science and stay up to date with the research literature and best practices.

  • Each person brings their own unique values, identities, and life experiences to therapy. I am committed to offering individualized care that is tailored to each client’s needs, goals, and preferences.

  • I care deeply about providing culturally-responsive care. I welcome clients of any race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation, and to be neurodiversity-affirming. I am glad you are here.

  • I value authenticity and see it as a critical part of building trust, connection, and strong relationships. I am committed to being genuine and transparent with clients, and to supporting my clients in showing up authentically as well.

What You Need to Know

  • I offer individual, couples, and group therapy services for adults.

I am licensed in Washington state and can see clients virtually in 40+ states through PSYPACT (find out if your state is covered here).

  • Clients I work with are often looking for help with emotion, trauma, or stress-related concerns, such as:

    • Coping with stressful life events

    • Depression

    • Difficulties with emotion regulation

    • Grief and loss

    • Social/relationship functioning

    • Substance use

    • Suicidal thoughts

    • Posttraumatic stress (PTSD)

I also specialize in reproductive psychology, which means I work with individuals who are experiencing these symptoms or other specific concerns related to reproductive health, such as:

    • Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)

    • Grief & loss: miscarriage, TFMR, stillbirth, and more.

      • Premenstrual exacerbation (PME)

  • I offer therapy in-person and online!

In-person sessions are offered on Wednesdays in the West Seattle area.

Virtual sessions are conducted through a secure online platform and available for individuals located in WA or a PSYPACT state.

  • I work at Root & Bloom part-time. My typical hours are Wednesdays to Fridays between 8:30am - 4:30pm PT.

I have limited availability outside of these hours as I also work part-time at the University of Washington.

Outside of work, I can be found enjoying nature, playing piano, singing, doing yoga, or reading romantasy novels.

  • My standard session is 50m and typically once weekly. Depending on my schedule and your treatment needs, I may be able to offer an extended weekly session (~75m).

As part of the intake process, we will discuss my recommendations and your preferences for the length and frequency of our sessions. If either of us decide more intensive services are indicated, I can help you to identify referrals.

  • The fees for services are:

    • Phone Consultation (~15m): Free!

    • Intake Session (~80m): $360

    • Individual Sessions:

      • Standard (50m): $250

      • Extended (75m): $320

  • I am not in network with any insurance plans. I can, however, provide a superbill for clients who would like to pursue out-of-network reimbursement. I recognize the cost of therapy can be a significant barrier to care. Resources for reduced fee services can be found here.

  • I work as both a clinical psychologist and yoga teacher. It is important to me that clients know these are distinct roles with different credentials, ethical guidelines, and regulations.

As a psychologist, I am aware of the risks of having multiple relationships with clients. For this reason, I do not work with clients as both a therapist and yoga teacher.

If you think working together might be the right fit, please consider which role you work like to work with me in.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, and know that I am happy to provide you with referrals for other providers or recommendations for other yoga instructors.

Think I might be the right fit?

Here’s what you can expect.

Step 1: Free Consultation Call

The first step is to schedule a 15-minute consultation call. This free call gives us an opportunity to connect, discuss what you’re looking for from therapy, and address any questions you might have about me or my services.

Fit really matters in therapy and I want clients to find a provider who has the training, experience, and expertise needed to support them in their goals. If at any point you or I decide that working together isn’t the right fit, I can provide you with referrals for other providers or programs that may better fit your needs.

Step 2: Intake Session

It is important to me that clients are able to make an informed decision about whether to work with me. I also need to assess if I have the right training and experience to support you in your goals. If we both think working together might be the right fit, we will schedule a new client session (~80 minutes).

The intake process is typically 1-2 sessions. During this time, we will discuss your experiences in more depth. I will ask you about your background, current concerns, and your goals for therapy, while you get a sense for my style, approach, and what it might look like to work together. By the end of the intake phase, I will provide you with treatment recommendations and we will decide whether to work together. If we agree to continue meeting for therapy, we will develop an individualized treatment plan and figure out the logistics of therapy based on your specific needs and goals (e.g., meeting time, session length).

Step 3: Get Started with Therapy

If we commit to a treatment plan, we will get to work on your treatment goals. I recommend all clients start with a weekly session–and will protect a weekly time just for you. I know our work together is usually just 1-2 hours of your week and that meaningful changes often take time and effort. For this reason, I work with clients to take active steps towards their goals–both in and outside of session.

During our sessions, we will work to figure out what is needed to move you towards your goals and address any barriers that are getting in the way. I can help you to learn and practice new skills and behaviors in service of your goals. As part of our work together, we may agree to complete a specific evidence-based protocol–such as Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD or Prolonged Exposure for PTSD. Between sessions, I will encourage you to engage in practice assignments to hone their your skills and continue moving in the direction of what matters to you most.

Clients and colleagues have described my therapeutic style as genuine, compassionate, and engaging. They have highlighted my commitment to both meeting clients where they are and empowering them to make real change. I strive to create a safe and affirming therapeutic environment, and I am committed to providing care that is culturally-responsive, anti-racist, and LGBTQ+ affirming.

Whatever our plan is–know it will be tailored to you. I value collaboration and see clients as equals. While I have expertise in specific presenting concerns and treatments, you bring your own expertise–including your understanding of yourself, your history, goals, values, and needs. Together, we can work to alleviate suffering (root) and cultivate well-being (bloom).

Step 4: Progress Monitoring & Termination

Treatment is individualized, which means its length and the methods used vary based on the clients’ needs and preferences.

If we work together, we will create a progress monitoring plan, including your specific objectives and research-backed measures that can help us evaluate whether our work together is moving you towards your goals. This allows us to change course as needed and to determine when our work together is done.

While we may not know exact length of care at the start, treatment is designed to be time-limited. This may mean we begin with weekly sessions and work to decrease the frequency of our meetings to biweekly or as needed “booster” sessions–or, that we conclude our work together once you meet your goals.
